Save money by walking

If a purchase is over $20 I make myself walk away for a determined period of time. The larger the expense the longer I wait for the purchase. It keeps me from buying things on a whim. Sounds simple but it is sometimes hard to do. I know if I still want the item after the time has passed — and I can afford it — then I purchase it.

Great advice! I never buy anything on first impulse - in fact I usually leave the store and sleep on it. If I really want/need it I go back to the store or shop for it online to get a better deal.

Impulse buying is a major cause of busted budgets. For that one reason, I stay away from them too.

The great thing is, once you avoid a few impulse buys, it becomes really simple to do!
